New Work

Launching the Quiet Revolution with GS1 UK

GS1 UK, the standards body behind the barcode, has launched a new self-serve QR code generator, making it easier for brands to create QR codes powered by GS1 standards. Designed to support smaller brands and SMEs, the new capability helps more organisations prepare for the next generation of barcodes.

To support the launch, Red Brick Road have developed an integrated campaign called the Quiet Revolution introducing the initiative to a wider audience and bringing the capabilities of QR codes powered by GS1 to life.

The launch comes as QR codes powered by GS1 continue to move into wider use. Tesco recently became the first UK supermarket to transition an entire own-label product range to QR codes powered by GS1, while branded QR codes have also begun appearing on products.

As Anne Godfrey, CEO of GS1 UK, said: “QR codes powered by GS1 build on the foundations that have served retail so well for decades. By linking a product’s unique GS1 identifier to trusted digital information, they support a more connected and transparent future for the industry.”
